Empowering the Upper Cervical Doctor with Clinical Neurology

The entire curriculum has been designed around the need of the upper cervical doctor.  You will learn evaluation tools and corrective techniques to help stabilize the upper cervical correction and treating functional neurological lesions that prevent progress in care.  Major topics include the following:

UC Neuropathophysiology

Understand the full spectrum of neurological insult the Upper Cervical Subluxation plays on the nervous system. This class covers neuro-compressive lesions, hydrodynamic lesions, and feed forward lesions generated from the CCJ.


Functional Neurologic Lesions

Understand how pools of neurons can degenerate into functional neurologic lesions and how they behave. This class covers brain and neuron physiology in a normal setting as well as functional pathology within the clinical setting.

Neuro-Kinesiology

Learn how muscle testing works as it relates to functional neurological lesions. This class covers testing principles, dysfunctions categories, inhibition tests, compensations, stimulations and inhibitions, and tonicity.

Mechanoreceptors

Mechanoreceptors in the skull and neck may be corrected by the upper cervical adjustment, or may remain dysfunctional causing weakness and instability. This class covers evaluation and rehabilitation of muscle spindles, golgi tendon organs, and pacini corpuscles.

Nociceptors

When nociceptors become dysfunctional, the create pain and phantom feelings of hot, cold, and itch. If left untreated, they can create muscle hypertonicity, tics, and uncomplete recovery. This class covers evaluation and treatment of nociceptors in the skull and neck.

Vestibular System

Our vestibular system senses gravity and reflexively controls our balance, posture, eye movements. Functional disorders here can create head tilt, dizziness, and more. This class covers evaluation and treatment of the vestibular canals and utricles.

Oculomotor System

The oculomotor system has a close relationship with the cervical spine and dysfunction in one results in dysfunction in the other. Insufficient eye movements contribute to greater cervical effort and can effect holding times. Learn how to evaluate and treat pursuits, saccades, convergence, and optokinetics.

Brainstem

The Upper Cervical Subluxation causes functional lesions in the brainstem. After correcting the misalignment, adding brainstem functional rehabilitation will improve results. Learn how to evaluate the medulla, pons, and mesencephalon in seconds and rehabilitate on spot.

Josh Silver, D.C., D.A.C.N.B.

Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board

Dr. Silver is an Upper Cervical Chiropractor and Chiropractic Neurologist practicing in Largo, FL. He attended Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, CA from 2010-2014 and graduated summa cum laude. As a student there, he was president of The Upper Cervical Club and the Functional Neurology Club. During his studies there, he also completed a 300 hour training in Functional Neurology through the Carrick Institute of Graduate Studies. In 2014 he completed his Neurology board examination and earned the credentials DACNB (Diplomate on the American Chiropractic Neurology Board). He is a Certified Advanced Orthogonist and has served on the Board of Directors and as an Instructor of the Advanced Orthogonal Institute, and continues to teach today.


Dr. Silver has spent the last 10 years developing and refining neurology procedures for the care of his patients. Through his experience, he has developed the most comprehensive and practical Clinical Neurology curriculum for upper cervical doctors of every technique background. His lighthearted style intertwined with massive research makes learning fun and challenging.
